SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2023
Educational Qualification : Candidates must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
Nationality:
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Nepali, Bhutanese, and Indian Origin candidates are also eligible to apply.
SSC Stenographer Age Limit
Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2023, Candidates born not before 02.08.1993 and not later than 01.08.2005 are eligible to apply.
Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2023, Candidates born not before 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2005 are eligible to apply.
SSC Stenographer Age Relaxation
The age relaxation for the reserved categories is as follows:
SC/ST: 5 years
OBC: 3 years
PwD: 10 years

SSC Stenographer Selection Process
The selection process for SSC Stenographer 2023
Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The CBT will be a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based test. It will be conducted online in Hindi and English.
The CBT will be of 200 marks and will have 200 questions. The duration of the CBT will be 2 hours.
The CBT will be divided into the following sections:
General Awareness (GA) – 50 questions
English Language – 50 questions
Reasoning Ability – 50 questions
There will be negative marking equal to one-third of the marks allotted to the question for each wrong answer in the Computer Based Examination.
The qualifying marks for the CBT will be different for the Grade C and Grade D posts. The qualifying marks will be announced by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) after the CBT.
Skill Test in Stenography:
The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be
transcribed on computer.
